Young Learners English (YLE)

Cambridge English: Young Learners is a fun and engaging series of tests designed for children aged 7 to 12. The three levels – Pre A1 Starters, A1 Movers, and A2 Flyers – help young learners build confidence and develop their English step by step. These exams use age-appropriate topics and tasks to make learning enjoyable, while gently introducing children to the exam experience. There is no pass or fail; children are awarded shields that reflect their progress.

A2 Key is an elementary level qualification that demonstrates a basic understanding of English. It is suitable for learners who can communicate in simple situations and understand everyday expressions. This exam shows that the candidate can use English to interact in familiar contexts such as shopping, travelling, or introducing themselves, making it a strong foundation for further learning.

B1 Preliminary is an intermediate level exam for learners who have mastered the basics and are ready to use English in practical, real-world situations. It confirms that the candidate can read and understand straightforward texts, write short messages and emails, and engage in everyday conversations. This qualification is often taken by school or college students preparing for academic or career development.

B2 First is an upper-intermediate qualification that proves a learner can use English effectively for work, study, and travel. It is widely recognized by universities, employers, and government bodies. Candidates at this level can confidently express themselves in both spoken and written English, understand the main ideas of complex texts, and communicate fluently in most situations.

The Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) is designed for current and prospective English language teachers. It focuses on core teaching concepts such as lesson planning, classroom management, and language awareness. TKT is suitable for both new and experienced teachers and requires no practical teaching experience to take the exam. TKT is a flexible and globally respected qualification that supports career development in English language teaching.
